An experience for the whole family

How do the threads get into the loom? How did an office work without a telephone or a computer? A visit to our interactive museum promises plenty of surprising discoveries, especially for young people.

Are you a go-getter?

Blick in die Ausstellung "Die Macher und die Spinerei"

Young visitors are welcome to answer this question using an app – with the help of adults – in the exhibition on textile entrepreneurs and their strategies. They have to make the relevant decisions and discover many surprising facts. In the weaving mill, visitors of all ages step into the shoes of the men and women who worked in a textile factory. At media terminals, they can engage in dialogue with the relevant experts. They learn more about the work of the past in a playful way and experience some astonishing things whilst chatting with the stoker or the winder.

Playground

Zwei Kinder laufen über den Spielplatz.

Right next to the weaving mill’s Shedhalle is the new inclusive playground, whose connection to the textile industry is immediately apparent: here, there is play equipment for climbing and gymnastics that looks like a loom, a length of fabric or a weaver’s shuttle. Children and young people can generate their own energy, swing on the transmission rope or balance on red warp threads.

Restaurant

Restaurant Schiffchen

Our museum restaurant, ‘Schiffchen’, is also well-suited to family visits: under the heading ‘Hits for Kids’, there is a selection of meals and snacks for the little ones at reasonable prices. Those who prefer to eat their own packed lunch will find suitable picnic spots in the museum courtyard.
